Political. Nerdy. Blasphemous. What could go wrong?

Earlier today I wrote about the Conservative Thought Bubble and Rachel Maddow is doing a segment tonight on the very same thing. Unsurprisingly, she is more eloquent than I am. I'll embed video here once it is on her website. She started listing off all of the ridiculous conspiracy theories and Conservative Thought Bubble ideas that simply aren't true.

Many, many people have spoken about the Conservative Media Thought Bubble. Bill Maher. Andrew Sullivan. etc. .. and I know, I know, your response is that there is a Liberal Thought Bubble as well. Ok, let's let's take a look at the premise. I hope that you read this and give it some sincere thought because I think our ability to work together as a nation relies on it. I know this is long, but, Conservatives, please give me a moment of your time.

I wrote this just before the end of the 2008 Presidential Election.

We hear people talk about how this election is one of the most important of our time. It's an historic election... etc, etc. Most people think it's so important because it'll either see the first Black President or the first Female Vice-President.

I don't think that's why it is important.

I discuss religion with people and I often have to field the question of how I changed from devoutly religious to atheist. I figure I'll post it here so that I can refer people to it in the future.

The following Letter to the Editor was published in the Elko Daily Free Press back during the 2008 Presidential Election. I saved the link back then, but they no longer have the content available online. I kept a copy of it because it was so important to me... because it was about me.

Editor: Is Elko's fabled friendliness in jeopardy?

Ohio is the most important swing state due to the Electoral College and the current polling numbers, so it's no wonder that Obama is touting the unemployment numbers in Ohio which are lower than the national average. When President Obama took office the unemployment rate in Ohio was 8.6% and it is currently 7% (the national average is 7.8%). The Republicans have been attacking Obama for high unemployment rates (pretty much during his entire Presidency) and so this causes a problem for them.

Liberals on the Internet have latched on to the "binders full of women" statement from Mitt Romney at the 2nd Presidential Debate... but I think most have missed the point. Even a bunch of the folks pointing out that liberals are missing the point... are often missing the point, in my opinion.

During the first Presidential debate Mitt Romney was asked what he would cut in the Federal budget. His response was that he'd cut Obamacare (which reduces the budget deficit) and he'd cut PBS and Big Bird. So, he'd increase the budget deficit by repealing Obamacare and he'd reduce the budget deficit by cutting funding to Big Bird. Let's look at those numbers.

The September Jobs Report is out and it is great news for Americans. Great growth in jobs numbers as well as previous months being revised upwards!
