Political. Nerdy. Blasphemous. What could go wrong?

I'm always incredibly amused when fans of RIM (Research in Motion, the makers of Blackberry) tell me that it's totally making a come back... and since the new Blackberry OS 10 supports Android apps, it will totally open up the market to all of the Android developers! Right? ..... right?

Uh huh.

Blackberry sucks at technology.

At times in the past, I've discussed with my friends how one is motivated to do things. Where does motivation come from? Or rather, how do you find the motivation to get up and do whatever it is you are trying to do? I like these conversations, because it helps me understand the thinking of others. For me, I don't usually think about finding motivation, but about being determined to make a decision. My thought processes work a little differently. If I make a decision to take an action, I take that action.

Grammar: The difference between feeling your nuts and feeling you're nuts.

Every time I see the commercials for the new Hansel and Gretel movie, my brain does this... so I just decided to make a video:

One of my FAVORITE muscians is Jonathan Coulton. He makes all sorts of original geeky music and he is featured regularly when we get together to play Rock Band.

The upcoming episode of Glee is supposed to feature Baby Got Back... by Sir Mix-a-lot? Yeah.. not so much.

I just set up a new T-shirt store for my grammar nerds!

I recently tried to create a household analogy for the Debt Ceiling. It's awkward, I know, but that's because the way our government handles finances doesn't exist anywhere except for in government institutions. I asked for suggestions to improve the analogy and I received a few tweets on the subject.

So, first, let me say thank you to @es1999 for at least trying. Let's jump right in.

Raising the debt ceiling DOES NOT AUTHORIZE MORE SPENDING. It simply allows the country to pay for spending that CONGRESS HAS ALREADY COMMITTED TO...

It's true. Jehovah's Witnesses can SEEM like really nice people, but they will TURN ON YOU in a heartbeat... and more viciously than some other religions. I think it has to do with a high level of devotion to the religion. The more serious you are about those beliefs, the more seriously you take your orders.

Watching the fictional Will McAvoy talk to people on Twitter shows me just how much people do not understand the Debt Ceiling fiasco we repeatedly go through. So, I'm going to attempt to create an understandable analogy. Please leave comments and help me refine it!
