I'm always incredibly amused when fans of RIM (Research in Motion, the makers of Blackberry) tell me that it's totally making a come back... and since the new Blackberry OS 10 supports Android apps, it will totally open up the market to all of the Android developers! Right? ..... right?
Uh huh.
Blackberry sucks at technology.
I checked out their Compatibility test which is the first step to distributing Android apps on their Blackberry store and it utterly fails on step 1. You can see in the image above, the first field requires a filename for an APK file (Android PacKage) and it's complaining that the file doesn't have a .apk extension... and you can clearly see it has an .apk extension. This is not difficult.
The second line complains that it's not a folder containing the Android SDK, but that path does contain the Android SDK. More complicated than the first problem, but still... a complete failure.
So, you'll forgive me if I laugh anytime I hear someone talk about the Blackberry come back.
